Common Questions

FAQ — Irrigation Backflow Testing

Does my irrigation system need an annual backflow test?

Yes. Texas requires annual backflow assembly testing for all pressurized irrigation systems connected to the public water supply. Your city water utility will send a notice when your test is due, and failure to comply can result in water service termination.

When is the best time to schedule my irrigation backflow test?

Most irrigation backflow tests are due in the spring before the irrigation season begins. We recommend scheduling as soon as you receive your annual notice — availability fills up quickly from March through May across DFW.

What type of backflow assembly do irrigation systems use?

Most residential irrigation systems use a Double Check Valve Assembly (DCVA) or a Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB). Higher-risk systems or those with fertilizer injectors may require an RPZ assembly. We test all types.

What if I do not know where my backflow device is?

That is common, especially for newer homeowners. We can help locate your irrigation backflow assembly as part of the service visit. It is typically found near the water meter or at the point where the irrigation line splits from the main supply.
